SABRINA OS — Grocery Optimizer

Grocery's job, once built: keep shopping spend inside your existing budget and connect it to the meals/nutrition data Health already tracks — see Purpose and Planned workflow below.

What Matters Now

This lane is still planned, not operating

Grocery matters as part of Sabrina OS 3.0 because it should eventually bridge Health nutrition and Financial budget discipline, but it is not yet a working surface.

What Needs Action

Define the schema before the feature set

The next real move is to define the list, spend, and pantry model and source workflow, not to design optimization behavior on top of missing foundations.

Supporting Detail

Workflow, inputs, and outputs stay visible here

These sections keep the concept intact so the lane can be resumed later without rediscovering the operating idea.

This is a lab/planning surface

Nothing below should be mistaken for a live dashboard. It is a preserved concept deck for future implementation.

What Matters Now

Help plan grocery spend in a way that respects existing financial constraints (debt accounts, reserve goals) instead of being tracked separately from the rest of the budget, and eventually connect grocery choices to the nutrition/macro data already tracked for Health.

What Needs Action

  1. Pantry/inventory entries use one approved capture path. The source has not been selected; it must follow the effective runtime contract and avoid creating another split-brain lane.
  2. A shopping list is generated from planned recipes/meals plus current pantry levels.
  3. Each list item is checked against financial_reserve_goals / financial_base_commitments so grocery spend respects the existing budget, not a separate one.
  4. Price optimization (cheapest source per item, bulk vs. unit cost) is the last layer, built only once the list/spend data model exists.

Supporting Detail: Inputs

  • Grocery list / spend entries from a new Sheets tab.
  • Pantry quantities (would build on data already tracked for Health — see the data dependencies below).
  • Planned meals/recipes (would build on the existing recipe list — see below).
  • Existing budget numbers from the Financial lane (reserve goals, recurring bills).

Supporting Detail: Outputs

  • A shopping list scoped to planned meals and current pantry gaps.
  • A spend-vs-budget check before the list is finalized.
  • Cheapest-source / unit-cost suggestions per item (price optimization layer).
  • None of these exist yet — no calculations, prices, or lists are generated by this page.

Inventory / Pantry

Not built yet
Grocery doesn't have its own pantry tracking yet. It would build on data already kept for the Health lane's nutrition tracking — see the data dependencies below.

Recipes / Meal Prep

Not built yet
No meal-prep workflow exists yet. It would build on the existing recipe list, which today only has names — no macros or lane assignment.

Shopping List

Not yet connected
--
No table, Sheet tab, or workflow exists. Planned: generated from recipes/meal plan plus pantry gaps (see Planned workflow).

Price Optimization

Not yet connected
--
No price data source or optimizer logic exists. Planned as the last layer, after the shopping list and spend-vs-budget check are built.

Grocery list / spend captureNot created — planned capture source is not selected
sabrina.pantry_itemsExists (nutrition pipeline) — referenced read-only above, not extended
sabrina.recipe_menu_indexExists (names only) — referenced read-only above, not extended
financial_reserve_goals / financial_base_commitmentsExist — would be read for the budget check, not modified by this page

Safest Next Build Step

Define the grocery list/spend schema and select one approved capture path under the current-effective-state contract before any shopping-list generation or price-optimization logic is written.
